Album

Lost and Found: You've Got To Earn It 19621968 is a compilation album by The Temptations. Released by Motown Records in 1999, it includes twenty unreleased Temptations records alongside unreleased mixes of Ain't Too Proud to Beg and You've Got to Earn It. Most of the songs were recorded during the group's Classic 5 era with David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks as lead singers, although there are some tracks present which were recorded with Ruffin's predecessor, Elbridge Bryant, in the lineup. As one of the entries in Motown's Lost and Found series, this is a 20-track major find of largely unreleased Temptations material. It all originates from the early golden period of the group's history, with Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin finding their groove with each track, redefining soul history while searching for a hit. Under that banner, You've Got to Earn It pulls together a set of quality Tempts cuts that, while not always representative of the highest songwriting standards, is often effective and intense. This Temptations collection is no exception to that rule. The period between 1962 and 1968 had them quickly rising to fame and fortune with the relatively stable line-up featuring Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams and David Ruffin who joined in 1963 as lead and harmony tenor vocalists, with Otis Williams and Melvin Franklin adding baritone and bass
